Catalog promotions
Catalog promotions let you apply discounts directly to products (or product variants) in the catalog, ahead of the cart/checkout stage. This means customers see the discounted prices in listings and product pages. While conceptually similar to cart promotions, catalog promotions act on channel pricing of items rather than applying adjustments during the order process. When defining a catalog promotion, here are the principal properties and settings you will encounter:
Code - Unique identifier
Name - Human-readable name of the promotion
Channels - The sales channels in which this catalog promotion is active
Validity period - Optional start and end dates controlling when the promotion becomes active and when it stops.
Priority - Determines the order in which promotions are applied. Conflicting promotions should have distinct priorities.
Exclusivity - If marked “exclusive,” the promotion prevents other overlapping promotions from being applied simultaneously.
Enabled - Lets you turn on/off the promotion
Scopes - Defines which product variants are eligible for the promotion.
Actions/Discounts - Defines how the price is changed
Scopes allow you to specify to which product variants the promotion should be applied. Some built-in scope types include:
For products - explicitly select products to include
For variants - explicitly select variants to include.
For taxons - include all variants belonging to a specific taxon (category).
Actions define how the price is adjusted when a variant is in scope. SellStack supports various price modification strategies. In addition, you can build custom actions. Common action types include:
Percentage discount - reduce the original price by a given percent.
Fixed discount - subtract a fixed monetary amount from the original price.
