Taxons

Taxon entity in SellStack is equivalent to the Category entity in Dynamics 365 and is one of the entities synced from Dynamics 365. It is used to group products. Each product can belong to multiple taxons. Associating products with taxons is covered in the Products section. A taxon can be created in Dynamics 365 and then synced to SellStack, but it is also possible to create it directly in SellStack. To create a new record in Dynamics 365, open the Item Category Card (see picture below). It is mandatory to set a unique Code value and give a Description (name). Optionally, you can set Parent Category to set the Category hierarchy. Setting the Active for Web Order checkbox to true enables a taxon in SellStack. If not enabled, a taxon will not be visible in the shop.

When the Item Category Card is saved, a new taxon will appear shortly in SellStack. Check the taxons list in the Admin panel and find the newly created taxon (see Taxons list in SellStack Admin image). Click three dots followed by the ‘edit’ button next to your taxon to open the taxon editing form. Check if all data has been correctly synced in the taxon editing form (see Taxon editing form for a remotely created taxon in SellStack Admin image). Fields with synced data are disabled and cannot be changed through SellStack. Synced taxons have a message flag that emphasizes they are imported from Dynamics 365. SellStack also enables the local creation of taxons independent of Dynamics 365. Administrators can click the ‘create’ button (see Taxons list in SellStack Admin image) and manually create a new taxon. When creating a new taxon manually, input fields are not disabled. These manually created taxons are marked with a ‘created locally’ message flag and can normally be updated later also (see Taxon editing form for locally created taxon in SellStack Admin image). Taxons are visible on the left side of the store page (see Taxons list on the storefront image) and can be drilled down through the tree hierarchy.
